Fuel polishing is the technical cleaning process used to remove or filter microbial contamination from oil and hydrocarbon fuel in storage. It is the removal of water, sediment, and bacterial contamination from fuels such as diesel, dyed diesel, and biodiesel.
If the generator unit is not consistently running on a normalized schedule, the fuel in the tank will sit idle and begin to develop microbial growth including various forms of bacteria, yeast, mold, and algae.
Hot Texas summers and direct heat on the tanks, as well as half or quarter filled tanks with more air in them, will collect condensation that will slowly settle throughout the tank.
Solid particles can collect in the fuel and throughout the tank. Rust, dirt, wax, soot, and various organic compounds can be collected through multiple stages of the fueling process.
Our fuel polishing system is designed to draw fluids from the storage tank bottom removing water and particulate matter including rust, sludge, pipe scale, bacteria, and fungus to as low as one (1) micron then return the clean dry fuel back to the storage tank.
